Ngatataek Health Center to a Tier III Hospital — Kajiado County

Project Description

With support from the M-Pesa Foundation, Ngatataek Health Center — a rural facility serving Ngatataek and surrounding communities in Kajiado County — was upgraded to a Tier III primary care hospital. Plateau Consultants was appointed as project manager and led the process from the ground up: conducting the site assessment and stakeholder consultations, translating community and beneficiary needs into a complete architectural design and bill of quantities, preparing tender documentation, and guiding contractor selection and construction supervision through to project completion.

The design centered on a new maternity and newborn unit, a surgical theatre, and a radiology department — each planned to meet Ministry of Health standards while genuinely improving the patient experience. The maternity ward was designed as a calm, nurturing space for expectant mothers, the theatre with strict sterility protocols, and the radiology unit with protective shielding for patient and staff safety. By combining careful design with disciplined project oversight — inception planning, progress reporting, and rigorous quality assurance — Plateau Consultants helped ensure Ngatataek Health Center could deliver a meaningfully higher standard of healthcare to the communities that depend on it.
